Learn how to make a useful origami expanding accordion folder. You can make one to keep cards, receipts, photos and more.
You could also make a larger version by starting with larger paper. There are many ways you could close the folder, use ribbon, a split pin, or leave it open.
You can also add more of the folders to make more sections, if you add too many you’ll need to change the way the cover is folded.
Level: ★★★☆☆
You will need:
Inner folders:
3 sheets of square paper
Cover:
1 sheet of square paper.
All papers were 20 x 20 cm / 7.9 x 7.9 inches
Final size: 10 x 5 x 5 cm / 3.94 x 2 x 2 inches
I love this! Though it’s a little hard, it’s generally easy to follow and the end product is amazing 🙂
I liked the video until unable to pause or rewind. Please fix. I like the project.

Hi! How big would the paper have to be if I had 3×5 in. note cards?
I believe you’d need 20.5 x 20.5 inch paper 🙂 Maybe a tiny bit bigger.
Hi! How should I modify it if I want the shape to be a square at the end and not a rectangle?
You can’t make this one a square shape, check out this tutorial, which is newer but a different method 🙂 https://www.paperkawaii.com/origami-accordion-document-folder-tutorial/
Thanks for the quick reply. However, I like this one because the folders can be taken out or added in while the one you linked is all glued in.
I suppose you could try making this one with rectangular paper and start with it ‘portrait’, that would make it taller but I’m not sure if it would be square 🙂
