Origami Chest of Drawers Tutorial

Origami Chest of Drawers Tutorial via @paper_kawaii

Learn how to make a useful origami chest of drawers, make as many as you like & slot together. Great gift boxes for multiple gifts. This is an improvement on the last origami drawers that I posted a few years back.

Make some to keep jewellery, stationary and other items that need organising, I’m using mine to keep crystals in.

The previous pull out drawers end up pretty small compared to the paper you start with, with these ones you get a bigger result.

Also there are two different ways to finish off the handles of the drawers, both of which are nicer than the old ones too.

I have made an effort to make these origami chest of drawers cleaner and finish the handles off better even though you may want to add glue to make them extra sturdy.

Level: ★★★☆☆

Part 1 – Shelves

Part 2 – Drawers

You will need:

– 2 or more sheets of square paper, I used 15 x 15 cm
Use thicker paper for best result (If you’re using really thick paper, you may need to trim off about 0.5cm off from the paper used for the inner drawers).
– Bit of glue

Final size: Using 15 x 15 cm each drawer will be 5.5 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm. Using 21 x 21 cm, each drawer is 7.5 x 7.5 x 4 cm.

Thanks so much for the tutorial! I love this and the tetra-box design so much.
I did the extra step of taking a half-sized (by side length) sheet, folding all the edges in until they matched the size of the inner drawer’s base, and laying it down as a lining. This stops small items getting lost in the flaps of the drawer’s base, and the flap of the handle can be tucked behind it quite nicely. I will probably use the drawers for beads and other small craft supplies.

I love your handle design! Very stilish and they seem to work perfectly. I particularly like the second one since it doesn’t seem to need glue ; )
