Learn how to make an origami kawasaki rose designed by Toshikazu Kawasaki. This is the full pre crease and assembly.
I hope you will find this video tutorial easy to follow, this is the way I find the easiest to make sure the rose turns out well. This video tutorial I consider to be one of my best actually as it was quite hard to show everything clearly.
The origami kawaski rose is a perfect gift to give on Valentine’s Day, Mothers Day, Birthdays and Anniversaries. You can make a bunch of origami roses and attach stems for a bouquet.
I recommend using large paper, about 20x20cm to start with. Use thin but strong paper for the best result. After you have mastered the folding process you can then use some higher quality paper.
Don’t forget there is a second video underneath that shows the folding process from a different angle. This video will help you to understand the hard part of the process.

You will need:
1 x square paper, I used 21 x 21cm paper in the video.
3 paper clips (optional)
I have also made a video which is from a different angle to show the assembly of the rose again. Watch that below.
Your video helped me actually complete the rose for the first time. I have tried and tried different diagrams and tutorials that did not show the steps I would always have an issue with. When I watched your video it all suddenly made sense to me and I understand why I could not finish before. Thank you so much and I have already tried a few others and same thing as this one, I can now complete them.
I’m very happy to hear that 😀
Enjoyed this! In some ways it is similar to a rose pattern I learned from a friend years ago, but different enough that a good tutorial is a very nice thing to have. ^_^ This pattern seems a bit more versatile. I like that you can leave it as a bud or make an open rose. Thank you.
You’re welcome, I’m glad you liked the tutorial, I wanted to make it as clear as possible as I had trouble understanding the diagram 🙂 ?
So glad I found you! Watched some of your videos on youtube—you make the BEST origami tutorials! <3
Thanks so much! ? ?

I had made several attempts to make a kawasaki rose with no success until I stumbled across your website.
Your video tutorial was simple and easy to follow. I really liked how you could teach the viewers without having to say a word on how its done! It was definitely helpful to have two different points of view on how to make this. So thank you very much and keep up with the great work 🙂
Hi Steff, thank you for taking the time to leave such a nice and encouraging comment 😀
