Learn how to fold an origami pokeball box. This cute origami gift box and lid is perfect for Pokemon fans. I love the original Pokemon series, it’s so nostalgic to watch, my daughter is also obsessed with it and the new Pokemon series and movies. We have yet to get into the Pokemon Go game, but I just know we’ll become addicted.
The origami Pikachu that’s featured in the photos is this one. Of course, Pikachu will not stay in the origami pokeball box. But if you do want him to fit, using the same sized paper that you start with for the box. That would result in an origami Pikachu that would actually fit in the box.
Hope you like this origami box design. I have to say I struggled to film this video and edit it. I made (quite a big) mistake, which you’ll see in the video and hopefully you can find it funny and not too annoying.
The box is octagonal, I’m pretty sure a hexagonal version would be possible too. You can use red and white paper, or other colours for the different kinds of pokeballs. The paper you use will need to have a white side on the back though.
This origami pokeball box using one colour and without any black decoration can be made without glue, this version is simply a fun poke ball version. If you follow the ‘no glue in origami’ rule please follow a different tutorial. Actually, you could make it with one sheet, and after it’s done you could paint it.
If you’d like to make a plain colour version of this octagonal origami box (no glue), I have a tutorial for that here. Also includes more variations for the lid, you can use circle design on the lid from this poke ball box on that one.
