I’m not sure why I thought it would be neat to have a little origami rubbish bin for my desk! As with most ideas, they end up becoming more and more complicated, so I had to simplify this one a bit!

The flap on this origami box, closes back to it’s position after pushing it… so it is similar to the swinging lids on some trash cans.

You would need to use bigger paper to make a decent sized bin, maybe 40 x 40 cm or use some wrapping paper.

This origami rubbish box uses the same box as the Origami Tool Box (tutorial here) – with a seperate flap.

Level: ★★★★☆ (only because assembling is a bit trickier)
Designer: PaperKawaii

You will need:

– 2 sheets of square paper
(I used 21 x 21 cm)
– Ruler + Pencil
– Calculator (if you need it)

Final size: 5 x 5 x 7.3 cm
